More on Mark Kelldorf
Mark had some time to sit down and answer a couple of questions. Check them out below:
Arkoma seems to have a wide reach with multiple businesses. Were these businesses always part of the mission or did they result in opportunities to exploit?
The company’s initial mission was to prospect and explore for natural gas in the Arkoma Basin. However, through adversity and prayer, I was led toward the purchase of mineral rights in the Arkoma Basin. The goal was to take advantage of increase density drilling opportunities (additional wells drilled in a unit) and capturing the upside of the natural gas price cycles. Over time, we expanded into other gas rich basins and diversified into the oil side of the market as well.
Did you always know you wanted to be an entrepreneur?
Yes, entrepreneurship has to do with organization and risk. Knowing I was not the smartest or most experienced, I leaned on my faith in God and became super organized. Risk was a matter of simply using technical expertise to reduce the risk of the venture. The oil and gas business is an excellent career for both characteristics, organization and reducing risks.
